Welcome to TFACL's home on the web!

Tri Family Association for Community Living was formed in early 1995 as a non-profit society and incorporated in January 1996. A small group of individuals which included parents/guardians and rehabilitation professionals formed the society to fulfill a need for the handicapped within the community.

The main purpose was to establish a home for dependant handicapped young adults that would provide a safe, loving, caring and warm family atmosphere where they could develop and progress in as normal a setting as possible. Our vision included a Day Program which would allow the young adults maximum community access to enhance their lives and enable them to reach their own potentials and become valued community members.

After becoming incorporated, the group's first formal proposal to Alberta Social Services (now PDD) was submitted. This proposal was very comprehensive and included Individualized Service Plans for the individuals, a staff schedule including estimated salaries and a proposed budget. After months of negotiations with Social Services and much more research on the part of the Society members, a revised proposal was approved.

Our search for a residence was started in April of 1997. By May, a suitable home was found and renovations were started. With the combined efforts and talents of the parents and volunteers we completed all renovations within 5 weeks.

Recruiting efforts were started and interviews were held during July and early August with a full complement of staff being hired by opening day

On August 25th, 1997 our residents moved into their new home.
